Calculate exam percentage from marks
This tool converts obtained marks into a percentage of the total marks. It is useful for school tests, university exams, assignments, quizzes and combined subject totals.
Marks percentage formula
Marks percentage = (Obtained marks ÷ Total marks) × 100
Worked examples
Percentage for multiple subjects
Add the obtained marks from every subject and add the total marks from every subject. Then apply the same formula. This works when the result is based on the combined marks.
Percentage is not automatically GPA or CGPA
Universities use different grading scales, grade points and credit-hour rules. Do not convert percentage directly into an official GPA unless your institution publishes that exact conversion method.
