About this tool
Set a target limit for social posts, metadata, messages or form fields. The counter uses Unicode grapheme clusters when supported, giving a more human-friendly count for many emoji and combined characters.
How to use it
- Enter the desired character limit.
- Type or paste text.
- Check the used, remaining and word counts.
What counts as a character
Letters, numbers, punctuation, spaces and line breaks count toward the total. Complex emoji or combined characters are counted as one visible character when the browser supports Intl.Segmenter.
Worked example
Good to know
Some platforms use their own rules for links, emoji or special scripts, so the platform’s final count may differ.
